Our first Community programme in Sumba focused on building water stations, giving hundreds of locals access to clean water in surrounding villages.
Access to running clean water in Sumba is extremely limited. Families must boil water daily for drinking and cooking, and during the dry season, scarcity forces them to walk long distances—often twice a day—to collect it. Children frequently miss school because they are responsible for this task.
To address this, we have used a clay filtration system from Terra Water Indonesia to install clean water filters in local schools. This simple yet powerful initiative reduces the burden of manual water collection, allowing students and teachers to enjoy direct access to safe drinking water on campus.
Looking ahead, our goal is to expand this programme by equipping more classrooms with two to three water filters, ensuring that all children can focus on learning and growth.
Crafted and designed with three-layers of all-natural, local clay, activated carbon and nano silver materials, Terra water filters work by pouring dirty water through the top, in which harmful contaminants are then caught and killed in the filter unit, producing 100% pure drinking water.
A single Terra water filter purifies up to 42 liters of safe-for-consumption, pure drinking water a day, equivalent to two and a half plastic gallons.

Currently, our aim is to install 50 more clean water filters within local schools surrounding our resort.
