As one of Sumba’s first resorts with a focus on slow luxury and intentional island offerings, one of our primary visions has been to support the locals — the people who have made Sumba our home — in ways that most benefit their lives and future generations.
Through different strategies and partnerships, our CSR programmes are established to oversee the growth of the following social pillars for the Sumbanese’s lifelong benefits:
Economic welfare through responsible and sustainable tourism
Health & wellbeing through strategic check-up programmes
Employment rate through education and hospitality training programmes
Natural landscape preservation of Sumba’s natural resources
To support local employment and increase the economic welfare of Sumba, we focus on high-end sustainable facilities, while also providing English language and hospitality training for local children and young adults.
Our reserve facilities allow sports activities to be utilized by local villagers, especially young adults, where they can train as surfers within our beach area and, if suitable, even contribute to our resort as surf guides.
For the wellbeing and care of the local children, we install clean water filters and ensure hygiene logistics for villagers through programmes such as the Terra Water Initiative.
Our healthcare initiative, in the planning, will oversee the integration of reliable health and eyecare clinic services for locals, especially elders.
